Case Study - Lifestyle Changes
Situation
A US based technology company had already made a significant investment in the health and well-being of their employees. A high tech fitness facility, health related lecture series, and health fairs with screenings and flu shots were all available. The existing problem was three-fold:
- With the exception of health fairs, these resources were only available to employees at the Headquarter location. With over 10 offices around the US alone, this left over 70% of their employees without access to these resources.
- The Return on Investment for this program could not be tracked.
- Internal resources were stretched to their breaking point. A series of lay-offs in the late 1990's had left the remaining staff overburdened.
Solution
OHWM offered a solution to out-source many of their current initiatives and also replicate current wellness programming for employees around the company.
In the first year program OHWM:
- Offered access to a high-tech fitness resource to all employees around the country
- Managed 100% of a reward program to motivate employees to join a fitness program.
- Organized, developed, and deployed a lecture series at over 10 major offices around the country.
- Took over the management of health fairs and on-site flu shots.
- Tracked the utilization and efficacy of the program.
Conclusions
Within the first 6-months of the program, OHWM created an Executive Summary of the program.
The results:
- Over 15% of the employee population has already accessed OHWM programming
- Of employees taking advantage of the fitness program, nearly 35% were NEW exercisers.
- Rewards and ease of use were cited as the primary reasons this sedentary population began a fitness program.
- Satisfaction with OHWM as a provider was high, all associates in the Health and Benefits' departments agreed OHWM was able to significantly impact the workload of their departments
